Abhishek Nayar, Indian team assistant head coach arrived in Colombo on Sunday night and will oversee Rohit-Kohli ahead of the 3 match ODI series against Sri Lanka . They also have their first training session after the long month break on Monday. Both Rohit and Virat have also arrived on Monday for ODI preparation and also others who are included in ODI have also joined the team. Few players like Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Shubman Gill who is also the vice-captain in both the formats will join the team after the 3rd T20 match against Sri Lanka which will happen today.
Abhishek Nayar released from 3rd T20
While Gambhir will continue to serve the team for last T20 match but his assistant coach Abhishek Nayar will serve his team for the next challenge
ODI series is set to begin from 2nd August after 3rd T20 match which will happen today. Abhishek Nayar has replaced Vikram Rathore as batting coach and has taken the full charge of the team before Gambhir and his team reach Colombo
Updates on other coaching staff
BCCI is set to take the decision on the permanent coaching staff after the India Vs Sri Lanka series. Gambhir will be provided his preferred coaching staff with Ryan ten Doeschate and Morne Morkel, Abhishek Nayar, who has already joined the team and also the fielding coach T Dilip .On spin bowling, BCCI could offer Sairaj Bahutule a permanent contract.
