Ashwin equals legend Muralitharan in this record

Indian Star all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has equalled another world record with Muttiah Muralitharan today. After winning the man of the series award in the India Vs Bangladesh test series, Ashwin has equalled the record with Muttiah Muralitharan of most players of the series, awards in tests. Both Ashwin and Muralitharan have won the 11 man of the series award in Test, surpassing legends like Shane Warne, Imran Khan, Jacques Kallis, etc, and Ashwin has a great chance of surpassing Muralitharan too in this record in the future as he still has a lot of Test cricket left in him.

Ashwin also surpassed Kumble and became the Indian with the most test wickets in Asia and the second highest overall. He is only behind Muralitharan, who has 612 wickets in Asia.

Apart from that, Ashwin also broke the record of Zaheer Khan and became the highest wicket taker in India vs. Bangladesh clashes. Ashwin has now taken 34 wickets in the matches played between India and Bangladesh and surpassed Zaheer Khan, who had taken 31 wickets in the matches played between both teams.

 Currently, Ashwin is also the leading wicket taker in the WTC edition 2023-25, as he has taken 53 wickets in 10th test matches, followed by Josh Hazlewood, who has taken 51 wickets. He is also the first bowler to take at least 50 wickets in all three editions of the World Test Championship. He is also the first bowler to get 100 wickets in WTC.

 Ashwin is also the fastest bowler to reach 300 test wickets in Test cricket in terms of innings and also the fastest Indian to reach 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, and 450 Test wickets.

Not just as a bowler, Ashwin shone as an all-rounder too. Ashwin is one of the 3 players in the world to take 300 wickets and score 5000 runs in Test Cricket.
