DDCA Women’s T20 Tournament: In a landmark moment for women’s cricket, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has launched its first-ever Women’s T20 Tournament, kicking off on June 9, 2025. The tournament features 41 clubs divided across five groups and more than 615 players aged 14 and above, marking a revolutionary step in the promotion of women’s cricket at the grassroots level in the capital.

DDCA President Rohan Jaitley: “A Monumental Milestone”

Speaking at the launch, DDCA President Rohan Jaitley shared the broader vision behind this initiative:

“Today marks a monumental milestone in the journey of women’s cricket. With over 615 players from 41 clubs, this tournament goes beyond the spirit of competition—it symbolizes opportunity, progress, and a bold step towards professional cricket for women in Delhi. This will lay the foundation for nurturing future stars and strengthen Delhi’s position in the national circuit.”

Sangeeta Jaitley: “A Historic Moment for Women’s Sports”

Gracing the occasion,  Sangeeta Jaitley, wife of the late  Arun Jaitley, emphasized the tournament’s impact on gender inclusion in Indian sports:

“This is a historic movement in Indian cricket. No other state association has held a T20 tournament dedicated solely to women. Until now, female cricketers had limited visibility through private events. This initiative will empower young girls and inspire many more to take up cricket.”

DDCA Officials Reaffirm Commitment to Women’s Cricket

Shikha Kumar, DDCA Vice President, reflected on the execution of this long-awaited plan:

“The commitment we made has now been fulfilled. Secretary Mr. Ashok Sharma and the association have ensured full support for our young players.”

The ceremonial toss, conducted by Mrs. Sangeeta Jaitley, symbolized a generational transition and DDCA’s commitment to inclusive and equitable cricket development.
