IPL 2025: After a stellar Indian Premier League season last year, Punjab Kings’ dynamic batter Shashank Singh is ready to don the red jersey once again and showcase his skills. Having gained immense popularity for his match-winning performances in IPL 17, Shashank reflected on how his life has transformed over the past year.
Shashank’s remarkable performances made him one of the most talked-about cricketers, earning him the ninth spot on Google’s most searched athletes list globally in 2024. His breathtaking 61* off just 29 balls against Gujarat Titans was one of the standout moments that contributed to this recognition.
Speaking about this achievement, Shashank said, “I did not know that Google releases a list of most searched people worldwide. It’s honestly a big thing. I prefer celebrating in solace, but deep inside, it feels good that people across India and the world are searching for my name and learning about my journey.”

Crediting Punjab Kings for his success, he added, “It has been possible because of Punjab Kings. There are so many talented cricketers playing at the top level, but Punjab Kings have always shown trust in me and backed me. Of course, I worked hard, but their faith played a crucial role.”
Retained by the franchise this season, Shashank is excited to reunite with his DY Patil T20 Cup teammates, Shreyas Iyer and Suryansh Shedge, at Punjab Kings.
“I am excited to meet Shreyas because we played junior-level cricket together and in the DY Patil T20 Cup. We share a great bond, and I am looking forward to playing under his captaincy this season. I am also eager to reunite with Suryansh, who is a bright prospect for both Punjab Kings and India,” Shashank expressed.
Emotional Attachment to Punjab Kings
Reflecting on his journey with Punjab Kings, Shashank conveyed his gratitude towards the franchise. “I am extremely lucky to have been a part of this franchise last year and to be retained. The innings against Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders were special because I was there when the team won. That’s a great feeling.”
He continued, “The support from the management last year is very close to my heart. I can now say that I am emotionally attached to Punjab Kings. I’ll ensure I continue doing the right things that helped me succeed last year to retain this trust.”
Punjab Kings’ IPL 2025 Campaign Begins on March 25
Punjab Kings will kick off their IPL season 18 campaign against Gujarat Titans on March 25 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
