Despite having an ensemble of talented players over the years, RCB has
not been able to win an IPL Trophy. RCB made it to the IPL finals
thrice, in 2009, 2011 and 2016. One of RCB’s iconic players, Virat
Kohli, has been an integral part of the team since its inception.
Legends who have played for RCB include Dale Steyn, Chris Gayle, AB de
Villiers, and Virat Kohli. Ahead of the 2024 IPL, Faf Du Plessis will
hold the position of team captain.
After winning the inaugural IPL in 2008, RR had a great start to their
career. They were successfully led by skipper Shane Warne. After this,
the franchise had its ups and downs as they were expelled twice from
the IPL, first in 2010 and later in 2015 due to the inquiry of the
Lodha Committee.
The squad added elite players like Trent Boult, Ravichandran Ashwin,
Shimron Hetmyer, and Yuzvendra Chahal in order to strengthen their
line-up in the 2022 mega auction. As a result, the team had an amazing
season but unfortunately finished as runners up. RR lost to the
debutant GT led by Hardik Pandya.
Out of 30 encounters so far, RCB have won 15 while RR have won 12 and
3 matches without any result. Virat Kohli, the RCB maestro has scored
the most runs in between RCB and RR so far, with 618 and Sanju Samson
has scored 344 runs for Rajasthan Royals, Yuzvendra Chahal from RCB
(who now plays for the Rajasthan Royals) has picked up the most
wickets, with 21. Jos Buttler has slammed a century against RCB.
Against RR, RCB’s highest total is 200 runs, while their lowest is 70
runs. On the other hand, RR scored the highest total of 217 runs
against RCB while their lowest was 58 runs. So far RCB has an upper
hand on RR watching these previous years records.
