Indian star cricketer Shubman Gill missed out on the first test of a three-match test series between India and New Zealand. However, the skipper Rohit did not mentioned the exact reason for his exclusion but said that he is not fully fit.
Reportedly, Shubman Gill had a stiff neck before the opening of the first test. He also wasn’t seen practicing before the start of day 2.
However, if Shubman Gill gets fully fit before the second test match, he will most probably be the part of the playing 11 in the second test match. Now the question is, if Shubman gill will be included in the playing 11, then who will miss out the second test? Speculations are mostly among KL Rahul and Sarfaraz Khan.
Sarfaraz Khan, who didn’t get an opportunity to play in the Bangladesh Test Series, was fortunate enough to get a chance in the first test match due to Shubman Gill’s injury. Despite getting out for a duck in the first inning, where the whole team collapsed and went all out at just the score of 46 runs, Sarfaraz played a heroic knock in the second inning, where he scored his maiden international century and 150 runs in just 195 deliveries through 15 fours and 3 sixes. Sarfaraz was the only centurion for the Indian team in the first test match. Whereas, on the other hand, KL Rahul also went for a duck in the first inning and only scored 12 runs in the second innings too.
Therefore, if being judged on the basis of recent performances, Sarfaraz Khan should make it to the playing 11 for the second test, but a number of fans and experts are expecting a Karun Nair kind of theory to be repeated. Just the way Karun Nair was dropped in the next test match after scoring a triple century, just because he got an opportunity in place of Ajinkya Rahane, there is speculation that despite all these efforts by Sarfaraz Khan, the management is likely to go with KL Rahul and Suman Gill in the playing 11, excluding Sarfaraz Khan from the squad.
