Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have landed in Sri Lanka ahead of 3 match ODI series, and will start their training from Monday.
India’s dynamic batting duo Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma has cut short their break on Gambhir’s request and has now reached Sri Lanka for the ODIs starting from August 2. Kohli and Rohit announced their retirement from the T20I format after winning the T20 WC in June, and wanted a break but on the request of the newly appointed India head coach Gautam Gambhir both star players agreed to end their break and join the Indian squad for the away series against Sri Lanka.
KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Kuldeep Yadav and Harshit Rana have also reached SL. As per report a net session will take place on Monday and all the Indian players will be present. Gambhir’s assistant coach Abhishek Nayar will oversee the session, he left for Colombo on Sunday after the second T20I against SL.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma and asst. Coach Abhishek Nayar shares a good bond where Rohit credits Nayar for his Test comeback, Nayar helped Rohit to overcome his batting difficulties, they both spend three months helping Rohit’s batting form.
The other players will join the team on Thursday after the T20I series ends.

Virat Kohli has played 53 ODI matches against SL and has scored 2594 runs with an average of 63.26, his highest score being 166*, he has 12 half centuries and 10 centuries by his name against SL.
Rohit Sharma has played 52 ODI matches against SL and has scored 1864 runs with an average of 45.46, his highest score being 264 runs, he has 7 half centuries and 6 centuries to his name.
