The current test team of India is abundant in terms of spinning all-rounders, having all-rounders like Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran, Ashwin, and Akshar Patel. But currently the Indian team is facing scarcity in terms of pace all-rounders.
There is not even a single proper pace all-rounder in the current test squad, which is a big concern for the team ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, which will be played in Australia. The Indian team is searching for a pace all rounder from domestic cricket. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shivam Dube are the major contenders among the other all-rounders in domestic cricket. But both of them lack experience, as they both have not even played a single test match for India.
Whereas there are also reports that Hardik Pandya is eyeing a comeback in red-ball cricket. The news became more evident when Hardik Pandya posted a video of him practicing with a red ball, in his social media account. Whereas there is no conformity regarding this. If this news comes to be true, Hardik Pandya can also be part of the Indian test team for the Border Gavaskar Trophy. But the major concern is his fitness, as he was not even able to complete his spell of 10 overs in the ODI in recent times.
Meanwhile, the Indian coach Gautam Gambhir is also looking to bring back Shardul Thakur in the Test squad, who has just made a comeback to competitive cricket after a successful foot surgery, as he is the only pace all-rounder with that much international experience and performances.
He played a prominent role in the last Border Gavaskar trophy match played in Australia, where he secured a 123 run partnership with Washington Sundar, took seven wickets in that match, and led his team to a historic win at Gabba.
