The IPL governing council meeting has been delayed by seven hours. The meeting which was earlier supposed to happen at 11:30 AM today will now happen in the evening.  The reason behind the delay is regarding the safety of all members as the Taj West End hotel of Bengaluru received a bomb threat through an email. However the source of this email has not been identified yet.  When the Bomb squad came in to check the premises, nothing dangerous was found.  However, the meeting will be held in the Four Seasons hotel of Bengaluru, which is only 6 Kilometres away from the Taj West End hotel of Mumbai.

The major decision of mega auction and the retention policies will be decided in the GC today. The venue of Mega Auction will most likely be held overseas. Venues such as Dubai, Doha and Saudi Arabia are ahead in the contention to host Mega Auction. Apart from that, the retention rules will also be decided in the GC. There can be different scenarios in terms of retention announcements. The are Speculations that The BCCI will allow 5 or 6retentions this season.  In the previous mega auction of 2022, only four retentions were allowed. Along with that, the uncapped player rule for retired players can come in as an uncommon rule in the league, which can help players such as MS Dhoni and Sunil Narine who has been retired for a long.

The GC will consist of 6 members including the BCCI secretary Jay Shah, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal and the treasurer Ashish Shelar are also anticipated to be there.

The BCCI AGM meeting will also be held at the same venue tomorrow in which further aspects of Indian cricket will be discussed.
