Indian star wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant turns 27 years old today. Despite of his young age Rishabh is still considered as one of the crucial aspects of the Indian team. But reaching this milestone was not that easy for Rishabh. From surviving nights in Gurudwara to surviving a deadly road accident, Rishabh’s journey has been filled with lots of ups and downs in his career.

Rishabh, who was born in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, traveled to Delhi at the age of 12 with his mother. In the few early days,Rishabh stayed in Gurudwara of Motibagh with his mother. He used to train under Tarak Sinha, who suggested he play U-13 and U15 for Rajasthan, but Pant was not fortunate enough to do so. Later on, coach Sinha instructed pant to focus on his batting.

But due to his excellent performances, he made his Ranji Trophy debut in Octrober 2015  for Delhi and later on got selected in the U-19 World Cup squad. In the same World Cup, he scored an 18-ball Fifty against Nepal which was the fastest at that time. He also got selected for Delhi Daredevils (now DC) in the IPL 2016. He also got his maiden call up for the Indian team in January 2017 and made his debut in the third T20I of the series.

Pant’s turning point in life came when he lost his father in 2017 due to a cardiac arrest. This incident was enough to distract him from cricket, but pant kept on practicing in order to fulfill his father’s dream. In 2018, Pant also made his ODI and Test debut. In the year 2018, Pant became the first wicketkeeper batsman to score a test century in Australia.

Pant has scored a total of 6 Test centuries, out of which 4 are overseas, in venues such as Sydney, Bermingham, Cape town and Adelaide. But these centuries stats does not show the proper ability of Pant as he has lost his wickets 6 times between a score of 90 and 100. One of the greatest innings of his career will be be his match winning 89 not out at Gabba in January 2021 and sealing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia and the first win of India at Gabba in 32-years.

In 2022, he scored his best ODI innings of unbeaten 125 runs and led his team to a series win against England in England.

But Rishabh’s speeding journey to success face a major roadblock in December 2022 when he faced a deadly road accident. In late night, Rishabh’s speedy car went out of control and crashed into a divider. The moment Rishabh’s car crashed, he assumed that it was the end of his life, but he somehow got himself out of the car, and in a matter of seconds, the car turned to Ashes. But Rishabh suffered a lot of injuries, especially a ligament tear, which ruled him out of action for almost 15 months.

But the recovery, which was expected to take 18 months, got him fully fit within just 14 months allowing him to play as a wicketkeeper batsman in IPL 2024 where he ended up being the second highest run scorer for the team in the season. Pant was also the part of World Cup 2024 winning Squad.

He also returned in action in whites in September, where he proved his worth by scoring a century in the second innings
