The opening day of the first test match between India and New Zealand
at M.Chinnaswami Stadium, Bengaluru, has been called off due to
continuous rain on the ground. The rain stopped at regular intervals
but could not stop for that much duration required to start the play.
The toss was expected to take place at 9 AM in the morning but could
not happen due to persistent rain. However, the play for day 2 is
expected to take place than half an hour earlier at 8:45 AM rather
than 9:15 AM.
The fans were desperate to witness the play; there were loud cheers,
even when The Ground staff was moving the covers. But unfortunately,
they could not even get to see a ball bowled the whole day. Meanwhile,
they got a glimpse of players like Virat and Yashaswi Jaiswal who
entered the ground to see the conditions.
Today was the opening day of the three match test series between India
and New Zealand. The Indian test team is currently in a red hot form
as they clean-swept Bangladesh at their home recently. The Indian team
is looking to clean this series too, as this will make their direct
way to the WTC finals since they only need to win three out of their
remaining eight matches to qualify for the WTC finals.
Whereas on the other hand, The situation of New Zealand is totally
opposite. The blackcaps recently played a 2 match test series against
Sri Lanka in Galle, where they got clean sweeped which had a major
infurnce on their WTC rankings. As of now, they need to win at least
six out of their seven remaining games to make their way to the WTC
finals.
Therefore, the WTC contendership of both the teams depends a lot on
the match as well as the series. The team winning the series will have
an upper hand in the WTC finals.
