Veteran Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag recently gave his advice to youngsters, saying it’s nice for them to start their cricketing journey with T20, it will give them an aggressive approach for Test cricket.
On the launch event of Delhi Premier League (DPL), organised by Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), the legendary Indian opener Virender Sehwag, who is also the brand ambassador of the game as made comment saying that in his time he scored triple century in 270 balls in test cricket, if today’s kids will play that number of balls they might score 400 runs.
While talking about these T20 leagues giving more opportunities to young players to showcase their talent and how they can help players develop an aggressive mindset to score runs which will be beneficial for Tests Sehwag said his elder son who is 17 played 3 days cricket for Delhi U-16, but there are lot of boys who are not getting those opportunities. When he was 18 there was no IPL or DPL but now youngsters might think about playing in IPL and DPL, which gives them that opportunity. So, if anyone develops an aggressive game that can suit Test cricket then why not? After all we all want people to come and watch Test cricket, Sehwag added. Sehwag’s son Aryavir is also the part of the draft for DPL T20.
The legendary fast bowler Brett Lee once said that he was also prepared to get strike for a six in the first ball of a test match while bowling to Sehwag. While talking about aggressive approach in Test cricket, Sehwag said the way England is playing Test cricket, scoring five runs an over. In his playing days Australia used to score 4 runs an over, he had always believed that if you can attack then you give your team more chances to win the Test match, Sehwag added.
The DPL will take place in the mid of august, many prominent players like Rishabh Pant, Harshit Rana, Navdeep Saini and Ishant Sharma will participate in the league, as confirmed by the president of DDCA, Rohan Jaitely.
