After BCCI’s announced that Gautam Gambhir is going to be India’s new head coach after Rahul Dravid’s tenure end, there are reports that Gambhir is demanding his old KKR teammate Ryan ten Deoschate in the Indian coaching staff. Ryan ten Doeschate who is a legend of Netherlands cricket was recently seen as a fielding coach of KKR winning run in 2024 of the Indian Premier League alongside Gautam Gambhir who was the mentor of the team. Gautam Gambhir and Ryan ten doeschate were teammates in the 4th edition of IPL in 2011 when Gambhir became the captain of KKR.
Doeschate is the most selfless cricketer : Gautam Gambhir
According to Gambhir in his 42 years career he has never came across a selfless cricketer like Ryan ten Doeschate, he also said that ten Doeschate is the greatest team player he has ever played with, he is the most selfless human being. Adding to this Gambhir also stated that he can take a bullet for him (ten Doeschate). Gambhir also shared an incident of 2011 IPL where Gambhir was leading KKR for the first time and they had 4 overseas players including Ryan ten Doeschate who had the fabulous 50 over World Cup, but was not included in the playing 11 of KKR. Gambhir said that in that match when he saw ten Doeschate carrying drinks for the team he saw no sign of disappointment on ten
Doeschate’s face. Gambhir said that Ryan ten Doeschate taught him the real meaning of what selflessness is.
In addition to his duties Ryan ten Doeschate is also the part of support staff of KKR in Major League Cricket, Caribbean Premier League and ILT20.
At what capacity Ryan ten Doeschate can join?
According to sources, BCCI wants to retain T. Dilip as the fielding coach of India. T. Dilip is the member of Rahul Dravid’s outgoing staff. Adding Ryan ten Doeschate in the Indian Coaching Staff will affect the preference of BCCI of all Indian staff members. BCCI is in
discussion to retain T.Dilip as the fielding coach and in that scenario Ryan ten Doeschate can join the coaching staff as the assistant coach, however Abhishek Nayar is also certain to join Gambhir in the coaching duties for the assistant coach rather than batting coach
The decision has not been made by BCCI whether they want Ryan ten Deoschate in the Indian coaching staff or not. Sources claim that the discussion is still underway even with the KKR officials.
