On 30th July Sri Lanka announced a 16-member squad for the 3 match ODI series against India Charith Asalanka, who lead this Sri Lankan side in T20 is all set to lead the side in ODI as well. Earlier the ODI captain was Kusal Mendis who partially lead the side in ODI World cup after Dasun Shanaka was ruled out due to injury
Nisan Mandushka gets the debut call
Nisan Mandushka, an upcoming young prominent batter for Sri Lanka has been added to Sri Lanka squad for the upcoming ODI series. He has recently made test debut against New-Zealand. It will be interesting to see if he will also get ODI debut under Asalanka leadership
Chamika Karunaratne returns
Chamika Karunaratne, the bowling all-rounder who used to take crucial wickets for the team has been also included in the squad. His presence will be important as he can score crucial run at the end and can also take important wickets
Fast Bowling looking weak
As Dushmanta Chameera, who was earlier out from T20 series due to Bronchitis, a respiratory disease is still recovering from this disease and also Naveen Thusara who has been out from T20 series due to fractured thumb is also not included in the squad. Although Matheesha Pathirana who was the crucial wicket taker in T20 squad has been included and would be a key bowler for this side
SL trying to build new team
Sri Lanka has moved on from the experienced players like Dinesh Chandimal and Angelo Mathews and look to include new faces in the team like Kamindu Mendis Who was also in the t20 squad and Janith Liyanage, who is also a young batter.
The 3 match ODI series is all set to start from 2nd August. India have already announced the squad where fans are excited to see Rohit-Kohli under the head coach Gautam Gambhir
