The excitement around cricket in India has reached new heights following India’s triumph in the T20 World Cup and a thrilling victory over Pakistan in the ongoing Champions Trophy. As cricket continues to dominate headlines, a new initiative aims to honor the unsung heroes of Indian domestic cricket – Ranji players.
The Epic Victory Cricket League (EVCL) has been launched to recognize and celebrate the contributions of retired Ranji Trophy players. Designed in the format of T20 leagues, EVCL will feature six franchise-owned teams comprising former Ranji players, competing in 18 matches across various states in India. Player registrations for the league will commence soon.
Praveen Kumar Endorses EVCL
Cricket legend Praveen Kumar has extended his support to EVCL, acknowledging the significance of recognizing domestic cricketing stalwarts. Speaking at the launch, Kumar said:
“I am really happy to support EVCL in recognizing the contribution of Ranji players. These players have been the backbone of Indian cricket, yet their careers often go unrecognized. This league is a wonderful initiative to provide them with an opportunity to re-ignite their passion and earn through the sport they love. Private leagues have helped international players gain recognition, and it’s time to do the same for our domestic champions.”
