Indian star cricketers Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant has been named in the probable list released by DDCA for the 2024–2025 season of Ranji Trophy. The Ranji Trophy of season 2024 to 2025, will begin on October 11.

The last time Virat Kohli played a Ranji match was in 2012, which he played against Uttar Pradesh in Ghaziabad. Virat has been named in the probable list for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy after 5 long years. The Delhi probable list also includes other Delhi players like Navdeep Saini, Ayush Badoni, Yash Dhull, and Anuj Rawat. The main reason behind the inclusion of Kohli in the probables is that Virat Kohli might have decided to play Ranji Trophy in  order to prepare for the New Zealand test series starting on October 16. Virat Kohli has had very little game time with Red Ball this year. He also missed out on England series at home in the month February-March. However this is just a probable list and there is no confirmation that both Virat and Rishabh will participate in Ranji or not.

Whereas the Indian veteran pacer Ishant Sharma could not make it to the probables list. The reason for the omission of Ishant Sharma in the probable list might be his age of 35 years, and he is also at the verge of his career, which makes him most likely not eligible for the Indian selection. He has played more than 100 Test matches for the Indian team.

The Indian pacer Mayank Yadav, who impressed with his fast deliveries of more than 150 kph in the IPL, is also named in the probable list. However, he got ruled out later that season due to a muscle tear. He is also a major contender for the India A squad and can play a prominent role in Indian pace attack in the upcoming years.
