The Indian women’s team suffered an unexpected defeat against New Zealand women’s yesterday in the first match of the women’s T20 World Cup 2024. While attempting to chase 160 runs, the team went all out at just the score of 102 runs and suffered a major 58 run defeat. Whereas, on the other hand , the Pakistan Women’s defeated the winners of the Asia Cup, Sri Lanka, by defending just 116 runs on the board.

Both Indian and Pakistan women will face each other tomorrow in Dubai International Stadium.  After their first match, the conditions of both teams are totally opposite now. The Indian team, which was considered the favorites in the first match, lost the game by a big margin, whereas the Pakistan team defeated the Asia Cup champions, Sri Lanka, by ceasing their innings at a score of 85 runs.

The Indian batters needs to step up and perform as no batter crossed the 20 run mark in the first match. The batting of the Indian team should be much better as they will be facing the furious bowlers, such as Sana Iqbal, Fatima Sana, Omaima Sohail and Nashra Sandhu who totally outplayed the batting of the Sri Lankan team in the previous match.

The Indian team also needs to strategise a lot of aspectrs and work on the mistakes they made in the first match. The captain Harmanpreet allowed Pooja Vastrakar to bowl only one over in the first match, which seemed inappropriate as in the year 2024, Pooja Vastrakar has bagged 20 wickets in 16 T20I matches. Bowlers such as Deepti Sharma also need to contribute with their bowling. In the first match, Deepti got hit for 45 runs and went wicketless in her spell of 4 overs.

Last time, both the teams face, each other was in the Asia Cup in July 2024, where India defeated pakistan in a one-sided victory by seven wickets
