Both teams are very strong in every aspect where MI have won 5 IPL titles and SRH have won only 1 IPL title. SRH and MI both the teams have appointed new captains Hardik Pandya (MI) and Pat Cummins (SRH). If we talk about teams Mumbai Indians they have a very balanced team with the experience of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan in opening to Hardik Pandya at no.6, in between them MI is feeling the need of Surya Kumar Yadav who is currently injured and not playing even in the second match, MI have a very quality middle order with Tilak Varma, Tim David but a very inexperience one. MI have many all-rounder in their team from Hardik to Mohammed Nabi both comes up a reputation and experience. In the bowling department MI lacks in fast bowling with Madushaka missing the first few matches, Jasprit Bumrah is the backbone of this MI bowling with some quality spin bowling of Piyush chawla and Kumar Kartikeya Singh.
When we talk about SRH they have a pack side in every department but the problem which arises infront of SRH is 4 foreign player policy and inexperience Indian batting. Rahul Tripati, Abdul Samad, Abhishek Sharma and Mayank Agarwal these Indians batsmen are the top contenders in SRH batting team-up except Abhishek nobody had a promising season. SRH misses the all-round contribution of Wanindu Hasaranga as he is also not available for the first few matches. In the bowling department SRH has been strong since the starting they have fast bowlers like Pat Cummins Bhuvneshwar kumar and spinners like Washington Sundar, Mayank Markande. Both the teams are very strong but is lacking because of their star players missing out first few games.
The two teams have played each other 21 times in the IPL. MI has won 12 times. They faced each other for the first time on May 1, 2013, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. MI set a below-par target of 130 for SRH. Ishant Sharma was the pick of the bowlers as he bowled a maiden over and conceded just 15 runs in his 4 overs and took 2 wickets. In the second innings, Shikhar Dhawan led the run-chase and completed it with 2 balls to spare and 7 wickets in hand. In their latest encounter, Mumbai Indians won handsomely by 8 wickets in IPL 2023, with Aussie all-rounder Cameron Green smashing a century off just 47 ball.
